Earache

Earache – Acute otitis Media

This service is available to children and young adults ages 1 year to 17 years.

The NHS Pharmacy First scheme is here to help you understand and get treatment for earache.

Acute otitis media (AOM) is a painful type of ear infection. AOM occurs when the area behind your eardrum becomes inflamed and infected.

How is acute otitis media diagnosed?

Our pharmacist will look at your medical history and carry out a physical examination to inspect the ear(s) and eardrum(s). This will allow us to confirm if you are suffering from acute otitis media.

Treatments

If our pharmacist confirms you are suffering from acute otitis media, they will be able to supply you with treatment during your appointment. You will not need to visit your GP for further diagnosis or a prescription.
