Blood Pressure Check

Blood Pressure Check

This service is funded by the NHS and has the following objectives:

  1. Identify people 40 years or older with high blood pressure, who have previously not had a confirmed diagnosis of hypertension, then refer them to their GP for appropriate management.
  2. Undertake clinic and ambulatory blood pressure checks when necessary, at the request of a general practice.
  3. Promote healthy behaviour to people at risk.

What will the pharmacy do?

The pharmacist will measure the blood pressure of adults requiring a blood pressure check.

During the consultation, the pharmacist will advise on your blood pressure and any follow-up care which is necessary. This could be general information about following a healthier lifestyle or an urgent GP referral.
